11" x 14" print - Whipsnakes among the Fairy Lanterns

Regular price $30.00

This piece celebrates both the unique and common species of Mount Diablo. While Feralia februalis and their host plant Blue Oaks (Quercus douglasii), Oak Titmouse (Baeolophus inornatus), and Western Fence Lizards (Sceloporus occidentalis) are all common and widespread, they share the slopes of Mount Diablo with two other species that live nowhere else on earth: the Alameda Whipsnake ( Masticophis lateralis euryxanthus) and the Mount Diablo Fairy Lantern (Calochortus pulchellus). Both of these sensitive species are rare but joyful sightings in the incredible habitats of Mount Diablo.
